Change is Coming for Dodge Vehicles

UntitledThere’s been a rumor humming along for a while now about the future that Dodge has with Chrysler, or rather the future that it might not have.  The speculation was raised when the product line after CEO Sergio Marchionne talked about doing away with duplication in the brands.  SRT President Ralph Gilles stepped in and settled things down and now the Dodge Brand Chief Tim Kuniskis has also entered into the story.

While at a media event in LA for the 2014 Dodge Durango, Kuniskis denied the rumors that Dodge is parting ways with Chrysler in an effort to consolidate the brands.  That being said, he was coy in what exactly was planned for Dodge’s future.  He acknowledged that while the brand isn’t going anywhere, change will be coming in some form.

Just what that means is anyone’s guess.  Kuniskis didn’t elaborate any more than that, refusing to note what the Dodge full line-up will look like over the course of the next few years.  ““What determines that is our ability to define opportunities in the marketplace,” he said in a comment.

It doesn’t surprise me either way that Chrysler is keeping Dodge around and that change is coming.  Dodge is very popular with younger drivers.  As far as change is concerned, looking over at Jeep shows that many brands will be getting a kick in the rear to re energize themselves in the coming years.  I think it’ll be a good thing overall, no matter how big the change is or isn’t.

Dodge Grand Caravan Gets New Blu-Ray Player for the Holidays

It’s that time of year to head over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house for the holidays. With a backseat full of antsy kids, though, parents can go a little crazy trying to keep family harmony on road trips.

Fortunately, the Dodge Grand Caravan now has an optional Blu-ray player available with plug-in for video game systems. With the new system, the second and third row seats can enjoy a movie or game on a high-resolution screen. Best of all, if there is disagreement between Spongebob Squarepants and Star Wars, the second row can watch one movie on their screen and the third row can watch a different movie on their screen.

I think this is a great idea on Dodge’s part especially that the system can play two different movies at once. Sometimes there is a vast age difference between siblings, and it is tough to find movies that toddlers and teenagers alike will enjoy. With Dodge’s new system, parents don’t have to worry that a movie might be too scary for the little ones or bore the teenagers. Everybody can get what they want.

Readers, we want to hear from you! Do you want the new Blu-ray entertainment center in your next Dodge Grand Caravan? What do you think of the plug-in for video games? Leave a comment below, and let us know what you think!

Dodge Lands 4 in Top Ten of November Sales

November was a blur for me. Didn’t have to work for the first week due to the massive hurricane and following snow storm. This is the case for so many other New Yorkers and they might have even shared the moment when they realized it was already December. For any one in the auto industry, that means it’s time to look back at the numbers for the month. Dodge was the pleasant surprise to see.  They were in front of all the others for sales figures.

The top ten of the best selling vehicles in November contained four Dodge vehicles. The Dodge Grand Caravan, Avenger, Journey, and Charger were the most popular purchases last month. The sales from the same month of last year had a huge increase as well. Dodge sold around 40,000 units which is 32% higher than in the previous year. That’s the 32nd straight month of having sales increase.

The Dodge Dart also helped Dodge enjoy a good month. The popular new car sold 4,489 units in November. The total now comes to 19,198 Darts sold all year.

The desire to drive a Dodge seems to have seen an increase in interest. Maybe it’s the Dart really starting to get noticed or people are just getting wise to the quality of other Dodge products. Either way, I wonder what December is going to be like for the brand.

New “Need for Speed: Most Wanted” Features Dodge Challenger, Charger

One of the year’s biggest racing games Need for Speed: Most Wanted just hit shelves a few weeks ago, and as gamers work their way through each level, they unlock an extensive list of the best cars ever made including several Dodge models.

The Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger made the cut in this year’s Need for Speed alongside the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Perfromante, and the Aston Martin V12 Vantage. The SRT Viper GTS also made the cut, giving the Chrysler LLC family a substantial representation in the game.

In Need for Speed: Most Wanted, drivers get to race against their friends through city streets in the world’s premiere sports cars. If they win, they get points to upgrade their car’s tires, body, chassis, or transmission. So far, the game has gotten rave reviews. Critics have praised it for giving car lovers a chance to take some of their dream cars through their paces and getting many chances to crash them too. The Challenger and Charger fit right into a world of gorgeous, high-performance cars, and with the game’s E-10 rating, young gamers can learn to love these great cars before they can even drive.
