Change is Coming for Dodge Vehicles

UntitledThere’s been a rumor humming along for a while now about the future that Dodge has with Chrysler, or rather the future that it might not have.  The speculation was raised when the product line after CEO Sergio Marchionne talked about doing away with duplication in the brands.  SRT President Ralph Gilles stepped in and settled things down and now the Dodge Brand Chief Tim Kuniskis has also entered into the story.

While at a media event in LA for the 2014 Dodge Durango, Kuniskis denied the rumors that Dodge is parting ways with Chrysler in an effort to consolidate the brands.  That being said, he was coy in what exactly was planned for Dodge’s future.  He acknowledged that while the brand isn’t going anywhere, change will be coming in some form.

Just what that means is anyone’s guess.  Kuniskis didn’t elaborate any more than that, refusing to note what the Dodge full line-up will look like over the course of the next few years.  ““What determines that is our ability to define opportunities in the marketplace,” he said in a comment.

It doesn’t surprise me either way that Chrysler is keeping Dodge around and that change is coming.  Dodge is very popular with younger drivers.  As far as change is concerned, looking over at Jeep shows that many brands will be getting a kick in the rear to re energize themselves in the coming years.  I think it’ll be a good thing overall, no matter how big the change is or isn’t.
