2014 Dodge Durango Will Likely Have UConnect

There are plenty of new reveals just around the corner with the New York Auto Show. Mopar and Jeep have come together to put out six new Jeep concepts that’ll be on display at the event. Dodge is also teasing auto-enthusiasts prior to the happening with the new 2014 Durango. All that’s been shown so far is the tease of a taillight design, but that hasn’t stopped anyone from speculating on what to expect.

Digital Trends believes they know a multitude of features that the 2014 Dodge Durango will have. It should have a load of new tech that Chrysler has been pushing for. The conclusion is drawn from the press release that Dodge put out in which they say, “Built on the Dodge brand’s pillars of style, performance, and innovation, the new 2014 Dodge Durango will deliver state-of-the-art-technology in both form and function.”

Not exactly a tough conclusion to come up with from the fact that the mission statement from Dodge is about being ahead of the pack in auto technology. The Durango incorporating the popular Uconnect system seems like a given with how positive the feedback from critics and drivers has been. A real question to wonder about is if Durango will be having a brand new piece of tech to go with it. Until the New York Auto Show, it’s all just guessing.

2013 Dodge Charger: Power the Police Prefer

2013-charger-badgeThe Dodge Charger is a favorite with police departments.  They recognize that in order to do their job that they need to have the best quality helping them.

The New York Daily News breaks down the new 2013 Dodge Charger and the reasoning why the cops prefer to use it.  What exactly does a police version of the Dodge Charger have?  It’s typically the 292 BHP 3.6L V6 with variable valve timing to get the best fuel efficiency.  The State Patrols go for even more power.  They choose the Charger with 370 BHP, 395 ft.lbs of torque 5.7L Hemi V8 to get the best acceleration.

There are some advantages to handling a vehicle that cops choose.  Think about the way other drivers may get out of your way, confusing you for a unmarked police car.  Might seem unlikely, but when you see the profile of a Charger, you may ease off the gas just in case.

The newest addition to the 2013 Dodge Charger is the V6.  The engine comes with an eight speed transmission.  The eight gear ratios give the V6 17 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

Sergio Marchionne’s Customer Dodge Challenger SRT up for Auction

2011_dodge_challenger-srt8_front_ns_31313_717Sergio Marchionne, Chrysler’s CEO, is putting up a one-of-a-kind Dodge up for auction.  His customized 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 will be available to bid upon at the Barrett-Jackson event April 4th through the 6th.

The Challenger is simply amazing.  It’s the kind of beast you’d expect from someone at the head of Chrysler.  Marchionne had it given a black paint job along with “Dark Charcoal” racing stripes.  Proving that it’s good to be the kind, those stripes were put on by the hands of the SRT studio and painters from the Chrysler Group’s Product Design Office.

According to Edmunds, the people putting this together for the CEO wanted the special Challenger to have “a sinister look from every angle, so the tailamps have been “smoked” and the iconic 392 Hemi fender badges have been re-created in gloss and satin black finishes.”

Chrysler will also be throwing in the latest crate engine from Mopar, the 540-horsepower Hemi V8, along with the car to the winner.  The custom Challenger also comes with a Mopar-adjustable coil-over suspension kit and exhaust system.  The wheels are 20-inch and finished in matte black.

To top it all off, Marchionne made sure to include his autograph on the car.  The proceeds from the auctioning off will be going to the United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
