Is the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Overkill?

2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

The Dodge Charger Hellcat has always been popular with car fans due to its extreme power.  That 707 horsepower was hard not to get excited about.  That makes it hard not to use extreme comparisons and words when used to describe the Charger Hellcat.  As a writer for MSN Autos put it, the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is “Nuclear overkill.”

It’s clear from his review of the Charger SRT Hellcat that writer Will Sabel Courtney is overwhelmed by it.  One of those is what to use to describe his time with the Charger.  In his own words “It’s hard to avoid nuclear terminology when trying to describe the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi known as the Hellcat.”  In the end, the word that came out to describe the Charger Hellcat is “overkill.”

Is the Dodge Charger Hellcat too much power for its own good?  It may just be.  The problem with that idea is that I believe the appeal of the Charger Hellcat is the idea of overkill.  It’s a muscle car with as much power poured into it as possible.  That’s what the power of something like this wants.  It’s the fun and the thrill of the drive that is wanted.

Courtney does realize this.  He compares the fun of driving the Charger Hellcat to what it is that makes people wait in line for a ride at a Six Flags.

Check out the review of the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and see if you agree that the Hellcat engine is overkill.

Dodge Plans for 2016 Dodge Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcats

Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

The popularity of the Dodge Hellcats was something that Dodge didn’t expect.  Due to those issues, the brand had to make some tough choices about the 2015 Hellcats and pull the plug on getting more out to customers, instead giving them a refund and first crack at the newly announced 2016 models.  While this certainly is bad news for customers still trying to get a Hellcat Challenger or Charger, the boost in popularity has really helped the brand.

“It’s an absolute milestone of Dodge history,” said Dodge and SRT President and CEO Tim Kuniskis according to Detroit News.  “It’s the ’71 Hemi all over again.”

The cancellation of orders left hundreds without Hellcats and to rectify this, Dodge is putting an increase in effort into their production of the 2016 line.  They will be producing more than double what was in 2015 in hopes of making sure they avoid this problem in the future.  The two Hellcats, the Charger and Challenger, will also be getting an increase in price.  The main reason is that the standard equipment on the 2016 models has been made nicer, including Laguna leather.

Dodge Challenger Featured in 138 Water Photo Shoot

Bo Osinski 1

Last month, the Dodge Challenger was featured in a very sexy photo shoot with Los Angeles model Bo Osinski.

The photo shoot was an advertisement for 138 Water, a bottled water brand, and it featured Bo Osinski posing in a mini-dress with a white Dodge Challenger. She stretched on the hood, posed on either side, and even took a look under the hood of the car. Maybe she wanted to catch a peek at the HEMI engine.

Bo Osinski 2138 Water is positioning itself as bottled water for celebrities, a fashion statement like a Gucci handbag. It makes sense that 138 Water would choose the Dodge Challenger for this photo shoot. The Dodge Challenger is a classic that looks great and still delivers on power and performance.
