Dodge CEO Takes 2013 Dodge Viper for a Test Drive

One of the best thing about being the president of a car maker is being able to take whatever car you want for a spin. If you’re Ralph Giles, the president and CEO of the SRT brand, that means you have access to the brand new prototype for the 2013 SRT Viper. That also means that every driver on the road you pass by gets to be incredibly jealous of you.

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Ralph Giles decided to take the new Viper for a spin on the freeway. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that commuters were shocked to see it speeding by. “With the modern-day cell phones everyone was almost crashing into me trying to take pictures,” Giles said.

The rebirth of the Dodge Viper and Dart are the big talk of the auto world this year. The Viper has been gone from the public since 2010, when it was discontinued out of the financial woes that Dodge was facing. Fiat becoming a the controlling shareholder is what helped get the Viper back on the roads. The new 2013 Viper will be available to people who are not the head of Dodge in the fourth quarter of this year.

President Obama Gets Behind the Wheel of the Dodge Dart

When the news started coming out about the Dodge Dart, everyone knew it was a big deal. I don’t think, however, that anyone expected it to be so big that even President Obama had to take a closer look.

Chrysler has released pictures and a press release stating that during the President’s trip to the Washington Auto show, he was spotted behind the wheel of the new version of the Dodge Dart. Dodge Brand President and CEO Reid Bigland was on hand to show President Obama the new car and to walk him around the show floor to all the vehicles on display.

The hype behind the Dodge Dart doesn’t seem to be letting up. After such a strong unveiling early in January at the Detroit Auto Show, now the car seems to be getting the President’s seal of approval. The Dart is expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2012. Featuring a dynamic designed inspired by the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and other great additions such as the premium 7-inch Thin Film Transistor display. Maybe this is why the President got rid of his Chrysler 300 so he could get the new Dart.
