2014 Dodge Durango Revealed at New York Auto Show

2014_dodge_durango_actf34_ns_326133_717The 2014 Dodge Durango got its full unveiling at the New York Auto Show.  It was speculated early what the technology it would have, time to find out if it was accurate.

It was a safe bet to make at the time that the Durango would have the Uconnect system.  Good thing too because it does indeed include the tech.  That, as well as a 9-inch dual Blu-ray and DVD player, gives any passengers a good distraction during lengthy rides.

Of course, it takes more than just an obvious inclusion of popular technology and a DVD player to really awe drivers with a new model.  What else is new in the 2014 Dodge Durango?  One is also the one that Dodge is gleaming about when discussing the new SUV.  That would be a rotary shifter for the all-new standard eight-speed transmission.  This helps with fuel economy, boosting it by 9 percent.  The shifter handle will be replaced with a rotary knob and paddle controls, giving drivers the ability to shift manually.

The only image of the Durango prior to the show was a look at the tail light.  Now the full exterior has been revealed.  The signature Dodge crosshair grille is still there, despite the new look. Dodge Dart RegistryI remember that when I was getting married, my wife and I walked around our favorite stores with a scan gun and just let our imaginations run wild while we made a registry list. We went aisle to aisle finding every possibility. There was a part of us, though, that knew what we could expect from family and friends. Although, that didn’t stop us from adding on some big ticket items with the thinking of ‘just in case we have a deep pocketed person who really likes us.’ We never did get that flat-screen for the wedding. Here’s how the concept works. You go to the special website www.DodgeDartRegistry.com and sign up. Next, you tell all your family and friends about what you just did, and after enduring laughter and skepticism, you explain the process. When you sign up, you choose the how much of the Dart you want to customize. Then you set an amount of money you want to fund it. The website then itemizes the different parts of the car, such as steering wheel, seat, or engine, and then the family and friends step into sponsor a specific part.

This video that Dodge made explains it fully. It also shows how one person, a chef and caterer named Graham Schave, decided to take advantage of the registry.

It might sound a tad absurd at first, but it really sounds like an amazing deal. If you’re looking to get a Dart and are willing to try something new to get a car, this might be the program for you. Check it out.

UntitledThe 2013 Dodge Dart has received the award for the Earth, Wind, and Power Car of the Year for 2013.  The award is always given to the one stand out vehicle or truck of the year that is the most environmentally progressive.

The award is handed out by Earth, Wind, and Power Media and their partners in an effort to educate drivers on climate change.  They look for vehicles that are the most-fuel efficient and that just goes to show how amazing the new Dodge Dart is.

2013 Dodge Charger Offers New Sports Package!

b9c5d1440a0d02b7005902cacc3e7b61Weather in New York hasn’t been the best of late with a flurry of snow and ice storms.  No one likes to have to brave the roads in these conditions, but it usually can’t be helped.  When that’s the case, you’ll want to know that your car was built with being able to tackle the challenge slick roads present.  In the case of the 2013 Dodge Charger, you’re covered.

Dodge will be offering a new Sport package that gives the sedan all-wheel drive.  It will be available on all models with the exception of the SRT8.  The package will come with a gloss-black grille.  The tires are all-season performance for those icy patches and are 19-inch polished aluminum wheels.  The biggest treat for fans will be a first.  Steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

As far as the engine is concerned, the Sports Package will come with a Pentastar V6 upgrade.  It will now have 300 horsepower thanks to the sport-tuned exhaust and cold-air induction system.  This has an impact on the fuel economy with 18 miles per gallon while driving through the streets of New York and 27 while on the highway.
