2014 Dodge Durango Revealed at New York Auto Show

2014_dodge_durango_actf34_ns_326133_717The 2014 Dodge Durango got its full unveiling at the New York Auto Show.  It was speculated early what the technology it would have, time to find out if it was accurate.

It was a safe bet to make at the time that the Durango would have the Uconnect system.  Good thing too because it does indeed include the tech.  That, as well as a 9-inch dual Blu-ray and DVD player, gives any passengers a good distraction during lengthy rides.

Of course, it takes more than just an obvious inclusion of popular technology and a DVD player to really awe drivers with a new model.  What else is new in the 2014 Dodge Durango?  One is also the one that Dodge is gleaming about when discussing the new SUV.  That would be a rotary shifter for the all-new standard eight-speed transmission.  This helps with fuel economy, boosting it by 9 percent.  The shifter handle will be replaced with a rotary knob and paddle controls, giving drivers the ability to shift manually.

The only image of the Durango prior to the show was a look at the tail light.  Now the full exterior has been revealed.  The signature Dodge crosshair grille is still there, despite the new look. 2013 Dodge Dart: Earth, Wind, & Power Car of the Year!

UntitledThe 2013 Dodge Dart has received the award for the Earth, Wind, and Power Car of the Year for 2013.  The award is always given to the one stand out vehicle or truck of the year that is the most environmentally progressive.

The award is handed out by Earth, Wind, and Power Media and their partners in an effort to educate drivers on climate change.  They look for vehicles that are the most-fuel efficient and that just goes to show how amazing the new Dodge Dart is.

New Dodge Dart Aero Announced!

We’ve talked about the Dodge Dart quite a bit here. It might have something to deal with the fact that it’s one of the biggest new cars of the year. There may also be that it’s really starting to heat up on the sales charts, seeing as how it had a great sales increase from the previous month. The Auto Channel has the details of the new Dodge Dart Aero that is planned on being released. The new car will have an advanced 1.4-litered MultiAir intercooled turbo engine. This comes on top of multiple aerodynamic enhancements such as a lightweight aluminum chassis components, an underbody aero kit, and low-rolling resistance tires. All these improvements allow the Dodge Dart Aero to boast about impressive gas economy with 41 miles per gallon on the highway.

Reid Bigland, the President CEO of Dodge summed up the details on the new Dart, “The all-new Dodge Dart is a groundbreaking vehicle, offering features and benefits never before offered in a compact car. Gas prices were one of the major components in the downfall of the auto industry. When prices sky rocketed to $4.12 in July of 2008, the Big Three weren’t prepared to deal with it by having smaller cars. Instead, the big thing at the moment were the giant gas guzzling SUVs and trucks. Sales went down more than 20 percent compared to Toyota with the fuel efficient Corolla which went up 16 percent.

Now that the auto industry has managed to dig their way out of the hole, they are making sure to not make the same mistake.
