Dodge Tops 2012 APEAL Study

J.D Power and Associates just gave Dodge a good reason to be smiling for the rest of the week. The recent release of their Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study ranked two Dodge models as the highest in their segments.

The Auto Channel shows that in the report, Dodge had the most significant gains. To be more exact, Dodge was the most improved over all of the other auto-makers, a 21 point increase from the previous year. Ram also had a sizable increase of 19 points. The Dodge Charger was given the highest ranking in the “Large Car” segment. The Dodge Challenger the best “Midsize Sporty” segment. This is now the second year in a row that both of these vehicles have ranked the highest in their classes.

What the APEAL study does is take a look at how gratifying a new car is to own and drive. The break-down is is on more than 80 vehicle attributes. The APEAL study is about the first 90 days of ownership and looking at the likes and dislikes the consumer has in regards to things such as vehicle design, content, and performance.

Doug Betts, Senior Vice President of Chrysler Group clearly enjoyed the news of the study, “This year’s study results are a clear indication that Chrysler Groups’ focus on quality, design, and performance is being recognized and appreciated by customers. We listen to our customers and continually implement changes to our vehicles to meet, and exceed, their needs.”

2013 Dodge Charger Making Nascar Debut!

“The car looks the best out of any of the new cars, that’s for sure – nice, sharp lines – and you can see a lot of the street car in the race car. It brings the Charger’s identity back onto the racetrack.”

Hornish was also the first driver to give the 2013 Charger a test drive. He got behind the wheel earlier this year at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. The public will get their first peak at it this upcoming Sunday at the Kobalt Tools 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Dodge Charger Given 5-Star Safety Rating

Aside

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has given both the 2012 Chrysler 300 and the 2012 Dodge Charger a 5-Star Safety Rating. That is the highest rating given for safety and is measured in three categories that include front and side crashes and also rollovers.

Scott Kunselman, the Senior Vice President-Engineering, Chrysler Group LLC said in regards to the news, “We’re very pleased that both the 2012 Chrysler 300 and 2012 Dodge Charger have achieved the highest overall rating. The results of these tests reflect crash worthiness and performance in different scenarios.”

Both vehicles feature a robust array of safety features that helped lead to the 5-Star rating. One such is the Adaptive Cruise Control which maintains a set distance between cars whenever the cruise control is turned on. Other features that make the 2012 Dodge Charger so safe are available blind-spot monitoring and electronic stability control.

Kunselman continued on about the safety of the car, “These vehicles are comprehensively equipped with advanced safety features Both vehicles are robustly designed with a rigid structure to protect occupants and have numerous advanced safety features including, available Adaptive Cruise Control which NHSTA notes as a technology proven to reduce crashes.”

Dodge Charger had been noted for its safety earlier by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety when they awarded the vehicle “Top Safety Pick.” Dodge takes pride in making sure that their vehicles, such as the Charger, are not only of the highest quality but also safe on the road.
