Dodge Plans for 2016 Dodge Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcats

Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

The popularity of the Dodge Hellcats was something that Dodge didn’t expect.  Due to those issues, the brand had to make some tough choices about the 2015 Hellcats and pull the plug on getting more out to customers, instead giving them a refund and first crack at the newly announced 2016 models.  While this certainly is bad news for customers still trying to get a Hellcat Challenger or Charger, the boost in popularity has really helped the brand.

“It’s an absolute milestone of Dodge history,” said Dodge and SRT President and CEO Tim Kuniskis according to Detroit News.  “It’s the ’71 Hemi all over again.”

The cancellation of orders left hundreds without Hellcats and to rectify this, Dodge is putting an increase in effort into their production of the 2016 line.  They will be producing more than double what was in 2015 in hopes of making sure they avoid this problem in the future.  The two Hellcats, the Charger and Challenger, will also be getting an increase in price.  The main reason is that the standard equipment on the 2016 models has been made nicer, including Laguna leather.
