Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is Able to Go 0 – 60 in Mere Seconds

Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat - DodgeDealerNy

The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is built for speed. One number is tossed around anytime someone brings up the new sedan, and that is the horsepower. 707 horsepower is no laughing matter. That number has gotten many drivers itching to test the new Charger SRT Hellcat is see if the real deal lives up to the hype. Doubters beware, according to Jalopnik, the Charger Hellcat is as powerful as Dodge is saying.

The article quotes that TorqueNews was able to be part of a presentation given by Chrysler which went over various details on the Charger SRT Hellcat’s performance. In the presentation, Dodge laid out that the Charger Hellcat is able to go from zero to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds. If that was not impressive enough by itself, it can do a quarter-mile in 10.7 seconds.

It isn’t really surprising. The Hellcat series of both the Charger and Challenger are built to appease the speed demons of the road. The engineers working on them seem hell-bent on making sure that their nefarious creations are provided with the titles of “fastest ever.” I think was is so fascinating is that I never thought that a sedan would be capable of such raw power, but it looks like SRT and Dodge live to challenge what any type of car can do.

Why The Viper is Struggling in Sales

2015 Dodge SRT Viper - Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge - 01hor

The SRT Viper is now back under the Dodge name.  Along with that, the Viper is also getting a new model.  The biggest hurdle that the new Viper has to get over, however, isn’t anything to do with its power or the name on the label, but just how to convince drivers to invest in the Viper.

Jalopnik highlights that the Viper seems to be doing everything right but can’t seem to boost sales.  The new model has a more powerful 8.4-liter V10 engine that gives five additional horsepower and better fuel economy.

Jalopnik blames the sales trend on its rival, the Corvette Stingray, which is less powerful than the new Viper, but a deal cheaper.  If anything is holding back the new Viper from getting into the garages of fans, it is most likely the higher cost.

Now that the Viper is a Dodge brand vehicle again and is bringing out various improvements in its new models, maybe drivers will follow what Jalopnik is asking of them and that is to please buy the Viper.
