The 2017 Dodge Charger has earned the Residual Value Award for the third time in three years!

This recognition comes from the ALG, an industry authority on automotive residual value projections in the US.  They analyze nearly 2,500 vehicles every year to provide consumers with the information.  ALG recognizes 26 vehicles with segment awards.  The awards are based on the 2017 model-year vehicles.

“Striking a delicate balance between traditional sedan and muscle car, the Dodge Charger represents the shifting trends in the full-size segment,” said Eric Lyman, VP of industry insights for ALG.  “A wide range of powertrain and comfort features ensure there is a perfect Charger for every personality.  High performance teams up with high value as the Dodge Charger lands back-to-back Residual Value Awards in 2017.”

“ALG recognizes vehicles and brands that stand out from the rest of the market, and that is exactly what the Dodge Charger does,” said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands at FCA.  “The only-four door muscle car in the market has now won this award from ALG three years in a row, and that is a testament to the fact that there is nothing else like Charger on the road today.”

Is the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Overkill?

2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

The Dodge Charger Hellcat has always been popular with car fans due to its extreme power.  That 707 horsepower was hard not to get excited about.  That makes it hard not to use extreme comparisons and words when used to describe the Charger Hellcat.  As a writer for MSN Autos put it, the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is “Nuclear overkill.”

It’s clear from his review of the Charger SRT Hellcat that writer Will Sabel Courtney is overwhelmed by it.  One of those is what to use to describe his time with the Charger.  In his own words “It’s hard to avoid nuclear terminology when trying to describe the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi known as the Hellcat.”  In the end, the word that came out to describe the Charger Hellcat is “overkill.”

Is the Dodge Charger Hellcat too much power for its own good?  It may just be.  The problem with that idea is that I believe the appeal of the Charger Hellcat is the idea of overkill.  It’s a muscle car with as much power poured into it as possible.  That’s what the power of something like this wants.  It’s the fun and the thrill of the drive that is wanted.

Courtney does realize this.  He compares the fun of driving the Charger Hellcat to what it is that makes people wait in line for a ride at a Six Flags.

Check out the review of the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and see if you agree that the Hellcat engine is overkill.

2015 Dodge Charger - Dodgedealerny - 01

Dodge brand is the number one mass-market auto brand on social media according to Shareablee Inc!

Shareablee, a social media analytics company, put out a new blog identifying the 10 ranking brands by looking at their social actions on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.  Amongst the 10 brands, it was Dodge that led in 2015 and continues to do so into 2016.

Looking at January 1st to March 15th 2016, Dodge had over 5.2 million social actions on their social media platforms.  That is more than double the actions of the next ranked automaker.

“It is great to see Dodge recognized as a fast riser on social media,” said Olivier Francois, the Chief Marketing Officer at FCA.  “Having a strong social presence is an important part of our marketing strategy for all our brands.  We strive to deliver content that is true to each individual brand persona, is relevant and evokes a reaction from our followers.”

Dodge is known for their fans and their online persona.  The Dodge brand has centered itself lately on a love for high-octane and performance cars.  Muscle cars such as the Charger and Challenger Hellcat tend to dominate with both Dodge and its fans raving about the raw power and beautiful design.  One of their most popular hashtags is the #ThatsMyDodge and is used by many Dodge owners to show off their performance vehicle.

Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands at FCA, said that Dodge fans are simply car fans, but they love the Dodge brand.  “Dodge and SRT vehicles have passionate fans who are not just customers, but real brand advocates.  The fact that Dodge generated 5.2 million social interactions so far this year, nearly double that of the second-ranked automaker in the study really reinforces our belief that when the information you share is authentic and organic, people engage and share the content.”

Dodge Challenger and Charger Get New Go Mango Paint Color

Dodge has been showing a lot of love lately to muscle car enthusiasts.  In recent months, they’ve released a series of nostalgic colors for the Challenger and Charger that appeal to the sense of nostalgia a muscle car driver typically has.  The “Plum Crazy” purple, “B5 Blue” and “Sublime” green colors are all meant to recall a bygone age of the muscle car.  Dodge is looking to expand that by adding additional colors.

Dodge unveiled at the 11th annual Spring Festival in Irvine, California that they’d be expanding the color palette of the Charger and Challenger SRT models with the Go Mango exterior paint.  This is a call-back to the iconic 1970 Challenger.

The new color combines red and orange tones and has a real high-octane look to it.  If you’re looking for a unique color for a Charger or Challenger, this new Go Mango paint really seems to stand out in a crowded field.

“Powerful performance cars like our Dodge Charger and Challenger demand high-impact colors,” said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Dodge Brand.  “Dodge muscle cars have a long history of unique paint colors with iconic names, and we’ll continue to reach back into our paint code archive to give our enthusiasts customers what they want.”
