The Dodge Grand Caravan Continues Production Past 2016

Dodge Grand Caravan Continues into 2016 - DodgeDealerNY

When Chrysler put out their five year plan, one of the most noticeable things that would be happening was the Dodge Grand Caravan would be getting benched.  The reason, at the time, was that Chrysler wanted to do less in the brand family to compete against each other.  Rather than have multiple minivans, they would concentrate on a single one.  The winner of the minivan segment was the Chrysler Town & Country, meaning the Grand Caravan would be no more after 2016.  However, Automotive News stumbled across a production document that shows the Grand Caravan may have some life left in it.

The memo states that the Grand Caravan is still planned for 2017, being produced along with the redesigned Town & Country.  The new Town & Country is set to start its production at the Windsor, Ontario plant on Feb. 29th 2016.  The 2016 Grand Caravan is slated to start this August and to end production in August 2016.  The 2017 model of the Grand Caravan will then be almost immediately put into production on August 23rd, 2016.

Since the 2016 run will be brief, there is no slated changes for the newer Grand Caravan models.

Why does it seem that Dodge is going back on their plan to no longer produce the minivan?  Automotive News thinks it may have to do with wanting to make sure there is no market loss as the company shifts over to the Town & Country.  With the short production life, it may give Dodge the chance to cut production depending on how things go.  It will also allow the Grand Caravan to continue to sell in Canada where it is the number 1 selling minivan.

In a statement, Fiat-Chrysler Chief Marketing Officer Olivier Francois said, “Today’s Dodge vehicle have the same passion for performance as John and Horace Dodge established in the first vehicles they crafted more than one hundred years ago.”

2015 Dodge Charger Gets Scat Pack Performance Kit!

15 Charger Scat Pack Performance Kit - Bayside Chrysler Jeep Dodge - 01

The Dodge Charger has been getting a lot of press and noise recently with the SRT Hellcat.  With the fact that the Hellcat is, unfortunately, having a difficult time keeping up with the public’s demand.  Fear not Charger fans, Mopar is still offering a way to get a Dodge Charger with tons of great stuff by giving the 2015 Charger a Scat Pack Performance Stage Kit.

The Stage 1 kit includes a front strut tower brace with caps, cat-back exhaust, cold-air intake, a premium powertrain control module, and a high-flow oil filter.  The performance is increased with an extra 18 horsepower and 19 lb-ft of torque.  The kit even includes a bright pedal kit.

No Mopar kit would be complete without some fancy decorations to show off.  The extra interior flourishes is a host of Mopar logos and door sill entry guards and a really cool Mopar ’15 graphic on the dashboard.

On the outside, the kit gives the Charger doesn’t try for anything big, settling for a simply matte black Mopar ’15 body side graphic.  The Charger is a good enough looking muscle car that there isn’t much one can do to improve on the design, even with a performance kit.

More items will be included as part of the kit besides parts and designs for the car.  The kit comes with things for the driver such as a certificate of authenticity, a replica vintage Poster, and a Mopar Performance fender badge.
