Dodge Charger Hellcat: King of the Drift

Dodge Charger Hellcat - King of Drifts

Is the Dodge Charger Hellcat the Chuck Norris of cars?  That’s a pretty odd thing to say, especially after Ram put out a Texas Ranger edition of one of their trucks.  I’m not the one asking it, however, that would be the Inquistir.  They’ve been checking out recent news and videos of the Charger Hellcat and it is hard not to see the thing as something altogether impressive, like the beard of Chuck Norris/

The Charger Hellcat, I feel, has been getting the short end of the stick in comparison to its brother the Challenger.  The Charger is the most powerful sedan available at due to the Hellcat.  With an engine pumping out 707 horsepower, there is few cars in its class that can keep up.

One of the videos they viewed to see the almighty power of the Charger Hellcat is MotorTrend’s Roadkill on YouTube.  They put the Charger up against the other two powerhouses in the Dodge family; the Viper and the Challenger.  The aim of doing this, of putting the car in competition, was to have a drift test.  It’s an impressive sight to see, but it is the Charger that wins the day.  Check out the video, with the specific segment starting at about 17:11 if you don’t have time to watch all of it.

Sadly, the Charger Hellcat has a temporary hold on order new ones from the dealerships.  Turns out that people want something this powerful.  Can’t imagine why.  Hopefully it will not be long before Dodge can met the demand placed on the Hellcats and get these bad boys out to those who want it.  I wonder if Chuck Norris has one.

A Look at Furious 7’s 1970 Dodge Charger

Furious 7 Dodge Charger

Furious 7 is a massive success.  It is one of the few movies out there to celebrate the insane stunts still capable with real cars without the over-reliance on CG.  Dodge has always had a healthy relationship with the filmmakers due to how awesome they make their cars look.  While many of their new vehicles have been prominently featured through the years, many car lovers look to Dom’s classic muscle cars.  One that is featured in the Furious 7 film is his 1970 Dodge Charger.

The YouTube channel The AficionAuto had a chance to speak with Dennis McCarthy, the vehicle coordinator for the recent films.  He agrees with the idea that CG takes away from the final product, so that means that when the filmmakers can, they are using real cars to perform some of the outrageous action setpieces.

His favorite vehicle, it turns out, is the car driven by Vin Diesel’s character Dom, which previously mentioned 1970 Dodge Charger.  Consider what the movie does with it and how it looks, I can’t blame him for being so smitten with it.  Take a look at the whole video, it is really good watch into the process of making a Fast and Furious film.
